On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the City of Oakland will officially rename 57th Street at Martin Luther King Jr. Way as Bobby Seale Way — honoring the co-founder of the Black Panther Party, born and developed right here on this very block.
This celebration is more than a ceremony; it’s a homecoming for a global legacy. The street that shaped Bobby will now carry his name — a permanent reminder that justice, education, and dignity for all begin in community.
The event will be hosted by Mr. Fab, featuring live performances, special guests, and a dedication moment that unites generations of Oakland voices in the spirit of “All Power to the People.”
